“Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.” –Lance Armstrong
As a female, let alone a young female in a male-dominated sport, there are numerous reasons why I lift and compete the way I do. But, you typically only hear “I want to look good”, or “I want to look sexy”. Those are nice perks, but why not train to better your body? Improve your expected life span? Better your mental and physical health? And, why not lift to inspire and support others?
As a 19 (almost 20-year-old) female who has grown up in a gym since they were 11, I have seen/been through almost everything regarding the gym and working out. I have been the insecure girl, the shy, naive female in the free-weight section.
I have hit plateaus and hit failure (multiple times), and I have encountered challenges. I say all of this to bring you to the fact that I am still here, I am still going strong, and I am still encountering the list above, but it is how we REACT to those battles, the attitude we take towards it, and the people we surround ourselves with.
What’s The Point?
Everyone has their own goals and reasons for doing something, that is obvious; the question is why? What is the point of working out, not the blanket statement everyone says? I strive to inspire others, to show not only females but males, young, and old, doesn’t matter, that we can do this, we all can lift competitively and be successful while having fun and enjoying every moment.
As humans, we sometimes have to see someone else leading by example before we even attempt to try something, I am that way too. But, I am here to be the example, here to share the words that I wished I had when I started this whole journey. Here to provide guidance, support, and continued learning. I am here to be a resource to all of my followers, and to allow open-ended communication, questions, comments, or simple chats with anyone and everyone.
